Christine H. Mahler, Executive Administrative Asst.

Chris is the Executive Administrative Assistant at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church. As the newest member of the staff, she is learning the many facets of the role, which include managing administrative tasks such as scheduling, calendar management, and front desk operations. She also helps coordinate church services, community outreach programs, and special events, and will eventually take on bookkeeping responsibilities. One of her favorite parts of the job is connecting with the church community through phone calls, email correspondence, and weekly bulletin updates.

What Christine loves most about this ministry is how open, welcoming, and caring the people are. From the very beginning, she has felt embraced by this wonderful community. She has been especially moved by the way members of Abiding Presence step forward to help anyone in need—without complaining, making excuses, or saying they don’t have time. Their willingness to serve reflects God’s love in action, and through her role, she hopes to help create a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone feels cared for and connected to God.

Christine hopes to play a meaningful role in helping Abiding Presence continue to grow—not only in numbers, but also in joy, faith, and community. Outside of church, she enjoys baking, entertaining family and friends, traveling, and discovering new places around the world.

One of her most meaningful spiritual practices takes place during the Christmas season. Her father-in-law created a beautiful stained-glass Nativity set for his parents, which her family later inherited. Each year, they display it in a place of honor in their living room. After working for synagogues for 15 years, she also received a menorah from a close friend. The Nativity set and the menorah are placed together on the same shelf as a way of honoring family, friendships, and the faith traditions that have shaped their lives. It is a meaningful reminder of God’s presence through the people and experiences that have enriched their journey.

A fun fact about Christine is that she loves baking and decorating cakes, and over the years she has been honored to win several awards for her creations.
