Living Lutheran

A special invitation to a new opportunity to discuss our responses to these troubled times.

Picture
This bulletin board was created by our Social Ministry team to display all the ways we live out our faith as Lutherans.

The Living Lutheran study will be led by Tim Brill and our Social Ministry team.
As Lutherans, we are a church that values and encourages diverse voices and lively dialogue in our faith and life.  We care about all levels of government because it is a gift from God intended for the safety and flourishing of human life.  We are grateful when government functions as God's gift, and we affirm that government is indispensable for safeguarding and improving human life and creation.

As a church, we are called to speak up when the government distorts or denies the image of God in each person by endangering access to protection, peace and daily bread.  Where harm or inequity occur, we are called by God to respond with love and advocacy.

To evaluate how well agencies of government are doing their proper work of providing for the safety and well-being of those within the country's borders and/or jurisdiction, Lutherans ask one simple but all-encompassing question:  is the neighbor being served?

If you are looking to discuss ways we as individuals, as a congregation, as a Synod, and as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America are called to respond, please join our new "Living Lutheran" discussion group at APLC. Our first gathering will be Monday, May 5 at 7:30 pm.

We will plan to meet on the first Monday of every month to pray about and discern how God is calling us to respond.

Please take a minute to view the beautiful new bulletin board in the narthex to discover "who we are, what we do" as Lutherans living in these times.

Don't hesitate to contact Tim Brill, Social Ministry Committee Co-Chair (609-947-8530 or [email protected]) if you have any questions or suggestions on this new initiative.  God's peace.
