Pastor Jaymie Kosa
With joy and thanksgiving, we are pleased to announce the election of our new Pastor, Jaymie Kosa.
Jaymie Kosa (she/her) has called the 900-person village of Roosevelt, NJ home longer than anywhere else. A former public-school teacher, she later held leadership roles in arts and education not-for-profits, served on county, state, and national boards, and was elected to the Roosevelt School Board, where she served for nine years.
A lifelong seeker, Jaymie found her spiritual home at St. Paul Lutheran Church in East Windsor in 2009. In 2018 she responded to God’s call to ministry, balancing full-time work, single parenting, and seminary studies. She completed field work, chaplaincy, and a two-year internship before graduating with honors from United Lutheran Seminary in 2025 with a Master of Divinity.
Jaymie delights in learning and laughter (not necessarily in that order!). She loves hearing people’s stories and cherishes every kind of question. Inspired by Maya Angelou’s blessing— “May your child always be blessed with the curiosity to learn and the patience to be kind”—she strives to embody that wisdom in life and ministry.
She also cares deeply about Jesus’ call to love God, our neighbors, and our enemies—which isn’t always easy when you’re raised by die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fans. She understands her call as creating safe, brave, and holy spaces where people draw closer to Jesus, embody love with power, practice justice and compassion, and discern how to serve God’s mission in the world.
Jaymie loves time with her children, Trevor (26) and Annie (21), whether cheering Liverpool in a pub or working on a jigsaw puzzle. She considers herself blessed with remarkable friends across every season of life, a gift she credits to the Holy Spirit’s matchmaking and her father’s advice to “hang out with people who are smarter than you.” Known for being “quirky” and “nerdy,” she enjoys hiking, swimming anywhere she can, cooking for a crowd, listening to WXPN, and making her own stationery. Jaymie is excited to learn and laugh with everyone and discover how Abiding Presence is being called to serve God’s mission in the world.
Please note that Pastor Jaymie was ordained in a special service on Saturday, October 11 at 2 pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Princeton Junction and will be installed as the Pastor of Abiding Presence on Saturday, January 17 at 5:30 pm. All are welcome to attend this service.
