Abiding Presence Lutheran Church Welcomes Rev. Jaymie Kosa
After a two-year period of intentional discernment focused on how the congregation is called to serve the world, Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in Ewing has elected the Rev. Jaymie Kosa as its new pastor.
Kosa brings experience in public education, nonprofit leadership, and local governance, including nine years of service on the Roosevelt School Board. A longtime resident of Roosevelt, NJ, she began her career as a public-school teacher before moving into leadership roles with arts and education organizations at the county, state, and national levels.
Kosa found her spiritual home at St. Paul Lutheran Church in East Windsor and responded to a call to ordained ministry in 2018. She completed field education, chaplaincy, and a two-year internship before graduating with honors from United Lutheran Seminary in 2025 with a Master of Divinity.
She describes her ministry as focused on responding to people’s needs, cultivating environments that are safe, brave, and welcoming, and serving the wider community by seeking justice, practicing lovingkindness, and walking humbly with God (Micah 6:8).
“Abiding Presence has clearly done the hard and hopeful work of discernment,” Kosa said. “I’m inspired by how this congregation shows up for its neighbors—listening deeply, serving with generosity, and ministering alongside partners like St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church in Trenton and Fountain Gate Chapel. I’m excited to learn and listen alongside them as we discover together how we are being called to serve the wider community.”
Outside of ministry, Kosa enjoys hiking, swimming, cooking for a crowd, listening to WXPN, cheering on Liverpool soccer, and enthusiastically geeking out over scripture, with a particular love for its craft, poetry, and storytelling.
