Eric Houghton, Director of Music Ministries
Eric Houghton, a piano performance graduate of Westminster Choir College and the Manhattan School of Music with over thirty years’ experience in church music, began serving as Director of Music Ministries at Abiding Presence on November 4, 2019.
Prior to coming to APLC, Eric had been the Organist/Choir Director for a Roman Catholic parish in Elizabeth, NJ for more than three decades. Having grown up near the NJ Shore, Eric now lives in Ewing with his wife, Carol (also a church musician); they have three grown children. He teaches piano to a large number of students in addition to his work at APLC leading music in worship and directing our Ensemble and Bell Choir.
Eric is also a composer; in 2018 his “Pioneer Songs” (telling the story of the first wagon trains to reach California in the 1840s) was performed with orchestra, soloists, narrator, and a 100+ member chorus at the War Memorial in Trenton. Eric regularly arranges and adapts music for church choirs.
